﹛﹛The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), which developed 2-Deoxy-D- Glucose (2-DG), a drug used for treatment of Covid-19 patients, has called for Expression of Interest (EoI) to transfer the technology to Indian pharmaceutical industries for production, news agency PTI reported.

﹛﹛2-DG was developed by the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), a lab of DRDO, in collaboration with Dr Reddy’s Laboratories.

﹛﹛Clinical trial results have shown that this molecule helps in faster recovery of hospitalised patients and reduces supplemental oxygen dependence.

The administration in the Muslim-dominated area is using Owaisi’s picture to quell the hesitancy in Muslim society to get vaccinated.

﹛﹛Vaccine beneficiaries can now correct errors in their Covid-19 inoculation certificate themselves on the CoWIN portal.

﹛﹛The government has added a new feature to the CoWIN platform for making corrections in Covid-19 vaccination certificates, Vikas Sheel, Additional Secretary, Union Health Ministry, said on Wednesday.

﹛﹛”Now you can make corrections to your name, year of birth and gender on your Cowin vaccination certificates if inadvertent errors have come in. Go to http://cowin.gov.in and Raise an Issue,” a tweet on the Aarogya Setu’s Twitter handle said.

﹛﹛An incident of Covid-19 vaccine wastage has come to light from Rajasthan where at least 480 doses of Covishield were wasted allegedly due to a faulty refrigerator.

﹛﹛The incident took place on May 22 at a public health centre (PHC) in Raghunathpura village of Banswara district. Doctors claim the refrigerator used to store the vaccine vials stopped working and the vaccine doses were left frozen inside. Read more on this report by Sharat Kumar

﹛﹛India has registered 92,596 new cases in the last 24 hours. Top five states which have registered maximum cases are Tamil Nadu with 18,023 cases, followed by Kerala with 15,567 cases, Maharashtra with 10,891 cases, Karnataka with 9,808 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 7,796 cases. 67.04% of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Tamil Nadu alone responsible for 19.46% of the new cases.

﹛﹛Also, 2,219 deaths were reported in the country in the last 24 hours. Maximum casualties were reported in Maharashtra (702), followed by Tamil Nadu with 409 daily deaths.

﹛﹛India’s recovery rate now stands at 94.55%. A total of 1,62,664 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 2,75,04,126 across the country.
